Wonderful News For
Project Becky.
I received a wonderful email from a staff member from the Riverside Mayor and Governors office, sharing great news;
SB 1338 or CARE Court was signed into law!
Riverside will be one of the first counties to begin implementation by October 1st 2023.
They thanked me for my advocacy and sharing my story.
The Mayors office called it, ‘ a win for Project Becky and The Umbrella Effect!’
Care Court is exactly what I prayed for after Becky’s death.
Realistically, I felt it would take my lifetime to see change in the current mental health system.
For the right people to understand the struggle family’s faced in trying to help a loved one with mental illness.
I am humbled that a year and a half after Becky passed, my prayer was answered.
Becky death will not be in vain.
I asked Becky to be the Guardian Angel over the CARE Court roll out in California.
So it will be watched over with eyes of an Angel.

SB 326 and AB 531
This Monday, July 10th, 2023; I have been asked to call in and speak on my support of the need for the passing of AB 531 (Irwin), which is the behavioral health housing bond component of the legislative package.
I am proud of California for stepping up to protect, those with anosognosia and are suffering on the street.
There are reforms that have already past, such as CARE Court.
Now, AB 531 and
SB 326 (Eggman) would modernize and reform the Mental Health Services Act to the Behavioral Health Services Act to provide services to the most seriously ill and to treat substance use disorders. It will also expands behavioral health workforce, and creates accountability measures for counties.
Be sure to keep up with the reforms and support them.
